Gosford’s Great Eats

Gosford has many great cafes, but for a cafe that will have you frequenting, from far and wide, just head south! South End Social, located in south Gosford, is a much-loved addition to south Goford’s burgeoning foodie scene. The owner-operators of South End Social have gone for a Mediterranean feel and vibe, beautifully reflected in the cafe’s fit-out. It’s not surprising either that the menu has many mediterranean-influenced dishes, notably their famous souvlaki. There’s Asian influences also, with the crispy chilli sesame chicken. But perhaps their most famous dish is their cheeseburger, featuring slow-cooked brisket. There’s both indoor and outdoor dining, and an extensive bar menu too, making South End Social ideal for breakfast, brunch, or a long lunch!

Just across the road from South End Social is the newly-established Lyons Den Gosford. This unique bar has a wide range of cocktails, drinks, and beers on tap, but it also offers African-inspired tapas food. Adjacent to the stunning art deco Creighton Building, Lyons Den is heritage-listed and was formerly part of a funeral home. Today, there is lots of life in this fabulous bar with highlight dishes including the Traditional Mozambique Prawns, Fried Bread Boerewors Sliders, and Old Mates Kitchen Biltong. There’s inside seating, with a feature African mural wall created by a local artist, and out front is an enticing beer garden, overlooking Mann Street and the Creighton.
