Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool & Royal Botanic Garden Sydney

People have been swimming in Woolloomooloo Bay since the first European settlement – and First Nations people long before that! But ONE BOY swam the race of his life here!

The Andrew (Boy) Charlton Pool is named after an Australian champion swimmer – Andrew Murray ‘Boy’ Charlton – an Olympic Gold medallist from the 1920’s and 1930’s. Overlooking Woolloomooloo Bay, the pool today is considered one of the most scenic pools in the country, boasting a 50 metre heated saltwater pool, a smaller 20 metre pool, and sun loungers for relaxing. There’s also yoga and pilates classes run regularly, held in the Charlton Room, overlooking the bay.

For those keen on a pre or post swim, the Oh Boy cafe overlooks the pool, and beautiful Sydney Harbour beyond. Having recently undergone a revamp, with a fresh coastal vibe, the Oh Boy cafe menu is equally light and fresh with dishes designed to share.

The Domain is one of Sydney’s most beautiful locations – on one side you have the Boy Charlton Pool, and on the other – the oldest botanic garden in the country!

The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney is a natural masterpiece, with thousands of trees and plants. Visitors can choose from a range of guided tours, including daily ones by donation, to really appreciate the gardens. There are also plenty of spaces to simply chill, and enjoy the beauty and serenity of this magical garden.
