A farmstay in Braidwood

We might have found the place for the ultimate country stay, just three and a half hours out of Sydney in the beautiful heritage town of Braidwood.

You’re going to want some luxury accommodation, and you’re spoiled for choice at Mona Farm, just minutes from town. If there’s just a handful of you, the apartment will be perfect, or if there’s seven of you the Coach House offers the ideal space. For a bigger party you can sleep twelve at the Homestead or eighteen in the New Stables, with plenty of room for everyone.

They are all exquisitely renovated and furnished, all with their own ultra-modern kitchen and all stuffed to the gills with contemporary artwork. It’s like staying in an art gallery, literally.

There’s also a sculpture walk on the property plus eight acres of carefully manicured gardens. It really is an experience in itself.

If you’re after a foodies experience, you must hit the Braidwood Farmers Market, held every second Saturday at the National Theatre in town. There’s local honey, wine, cider and preserves, plus some of the most stunning vegetables, from Hazlewood Farm and Wynlen House Micro-farm.

You can even visit Wynlen House farm and take a tour of the garden or take part in a workshop. Food, art, and fresh air in luxurious, historical surrounds? It must be Braidwood.
