Sydney is in the midst of bagel mania! And one former TV chef and host has gone from making ‘homes better’ to making some of the best bagels in Sydney!
Ed ‘Fast Ed’ Halmagyi was a much loved cast member on Better Homes and Gardens, for over twenty years. These days, he’s baking up a storm at his Bakery Avner’s in Sydney’s Surry Hills.
Choose from a range of authentic, boiled bagels, or ones with homemade fillings including house-cured lox and pastrami. There’s also a range of breads and other bakery treats on offer including babka, and both traditional and turmeric challah.
For those keen to get into the kitchen with Ed, Avner’s regularly runs bakery workshops, including a FREE strudel class on Sundays! Participants gather around the table with Ed, as they stretch and fill strudels in a fun, communal setting, before chowing down on the delicious finished product.
