Bees are essential to our environment and to our very survival. And in a suburban backyard in Sydney, one man is on a mission to save the bees- one hive at a time!
Henry Freiburg is a passionate beekeeper who runs Henry’s Honeybee Rescue, helping to salvage and relocate rogue swarms of bees that often find new homes in domestic houses. For those keen on becoming an actual beekeeper, Henry also runs beekeeping classes. Participants in the bee-keeping classes will learn all about native and European bees, as well as learning how to manage beehives, and harvest honey and honeycomb. You’ll dress in beekeeping outfits, to explore Henry’s apiary, and you’ll also get to taste several varieties of Henry’s honey, as well as his delicious homemade honey kombucha. As part of the class, you’ll also learn how to make birthday candles from harvested wax.
When you become a backyard beekeeper, not only are you helping to save the world, and money, you’ll be as busy as a bee!
