What’s better than a burger at the beach? How about two burger spots just a few steps off the sand on the Northern Beaches.
First is the Sunset Diner in Avalon, the pinkest burger paradise you’ll find this side of Miami. Inspired by the classic US diner experience, owner and chef Ben Varela, serves up delicious burgers, griddle dogs and salads, with ice cold malted shakes to match.
The classics start with the simply named The Burger – meat patty, cheese and Sunset sauce made with smoked tomatoes and fresh dill. There’s a crispy chicken burger and a Katsu chicken burger served with sesame kewpie mayo and Japanese pickles.
And how about truffle fries, onion rings or even deep-fried broccoli on the side.
In Dee Why, JB & Sons has got their griddle going overtime to serve up monster burgers like the Don – double burger, double bacon, triple cheese and plenty of salad. If you like a bit of spice, there’s the Hot Chick, made with pickled jalapenos, blended chipotle and chipotle mayo.
For a vegetarian option, there’s the Carney – a cheese-stuffed portobello mushroom, crumbed, fried and served with salad.
But the real mind-blower is the cheeseburger fries – everything you’d expect on a cheeseburger loaded on fries. Beef, cheese, pickles, onions and three super tasty sauces.
So, if you want burgers by the beach on the northside, you know where to go!
