Located in Caringbah, and overlooking beautiful Yowie Bay, is the E.G Waterhouse National Camellia Gardens. This award- winning garden, recognised by the International Camellia Society as a Camellia Gardens of Excellence in 2014, the E.G Waterhouse National Camellia Gardens is home to over 400 species, and cultivars, of camellias. Originally from parts of Asia, camellias are unlike most flowers which blossom in spring, and instead bloomin the winter months, creating a visual feast during the coldest part of the year.
There are many sections of the garden to wander and explore, including a Rose Garden, a Sensory Garden, and a playground for the kids. Whether you come here to picnic, feed the ducks, or even get married, the gardens are sure to delight! As well as a beautifully manicured garden, there is ample wildlife here too, including a colony of thousands of flying foxes who live high up in the trees.
Like all well-known gardens, the E.G Waterhouse National Camellia Gardens are also home to an in-house cafe, the Teahouse Camellia Gardens. A little oasis, amongst the gardens, the teahouse is where you can enjoy home-cooked and hearty meals, fresh Devonshire Tea, with home-made scones and a selection of hand-blended craft teas, as well as their signature offering- High Tea. There are regular High Teas, featuring items made mostly in-house, as well as mini and kid’s high teas. Best of all, guests are even welcome to BYO their own champagne, to enjoy with their High Tea!
