Campbelltown Arts Centre

Campbelltown is one of Sydney’s most multi-cultural suburbs, and First Nations people have been living in the area for tens of thousands of years!

Located in Dharawal country, in the heart of western Sydney, Campbelltown Arts Centre is a multi-disciplinary arts and events space. It’s also a place where people can learn more about First Nations peoples and cultures. The centre, or CAC as it’s known, is the site of many indigenous exhibitions, with a current display of works by indigenous ceramicist, Uncle Kevin ‘Sooty’ Welsh- a Wayilwan Elder and artist based in Coonamble. There’s also a powerful exhibition by local, recently deceased artist Peter Gregson; Volcanoes and Tornados.

For First Nations students, there’s also a range of workshops on offer, including ceramics and weaving. There’s also the Wiritjiribin Dance Troupe, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls- aged 5- 15 years- keeping culture, and traditions, alive through dance.
