Cycling in the City

If you want to get into cycling but the thought of road-riding gives you the wobbles, then fear not because there’s help at hand!

This weekend Matt heads to BikeWise in Alexandria’s Sydney Park. This fantastic co-op runs Cycling in the City and maintenance courses that will give you the skills and confidence to cruise the streets and enjoy the ride.

Forget lycra-clad speed-demons; BikeWise’s cycling workshop is run mostly by ex-couriers and is all about being seen, getting to your destination safely and enjoying the ride. The course covers all the basics from signalling, correct braking, and road-positioning.

After getting hands-on instruction on how to ride, Matt gets a lesson in fixing your ride with the Bike Maintenance workshop. This course covers puncture repair, tyre change, chain and gear maintenance and how to handle minor prangs.

Finally, Matt cruises to Revolve ReCYCLING just a five-minute ride away in Alexandria. This eco-friendly bike workshop keeps old rides out of landfill by giving them new life, and gives Sydneysiders access to high-quality, safe and affordable bicycles while creating jobs and encouraging cycling and active transport. It’s sustainability on wheels!
