Hearthe | Stanmore

Many suburbs are lucky enough to have a great cake shop or a fantastic café. Stanmore is doubly lucky because it has both, all rolled into one – Hearthe.

Hearthe is the new venture from Blackstar Pastry founder Christopher The, and as you’d expect, the offerings are as creative as they are delicious.

For a breakfast with a difference try a bowl of congee studded with flakes of paperbark smoked barramundi, pickled watermelon cucumbers and salty samphire. Or, if you’re seeking something more traditional, the bacon and egg roll on a housemade ciabatta, with a spicy bush tomato relish is a must.

Native flavours feature prominently, and many of the plants are grown in the café’s garden. That includes saltbush, which is an inspired addition to Christopher’s scones.

And of course, the cakes are sensational. Try the Unforgettable Cake, layers of orange and turmeric sponge and pumpkin jelly topped with fresh berries and edible flowers, or the Paperbark Cake with smoked chocolate ganache, macadamia and paperbark dacquoise.

Native ingredients, seasonal dishes and the best sweet treats in town. You’ll find them all at Hearthe.

WIN! One of two $100 vouchers to Hearthe AND a copy of Chri’s new cookbook Modern Australian Baking!
