Mudgee is famous for fantastic wine and fabulous food, but when you add a bit of art in the mix, it makes a weekend here a very special experience. We’ve found a place where all three come together: Rosby, a spectacular property just 10 minutes out of town, and owned by Gerry and Kay Norton-Knight.
Rosby is the home of the annual Sculptures in the Gardens exhibition, held every October on the weekend after the long weekend. Artists from all over the country vie for the prize, and many of the pieces have been purchased by the local council as part of the sculpture walk in town.
Rosby also holds regular art workshops, where you can learn how to draw — or if you feel like building a sculpture — how to weld. The workshops always feature one of Kay’s brilliant lunches, complete with a glass or two of Rosby wine.
To get a full taste of the wine, visit Gerry at the Cellar Door. There you can try the wines grown on the property, including a crisp Chardonnay, a summery Rose and the complex reds – a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Shiraz.
Top off your Rosby experience by staying in the Guesthouse or the Studio on the property. It all adds up to a total Mudgee masterpiece.
