Blak Douglas is one of Australia’s most celebrated, and award-winning, artists and one his favourite places in Sydney is his old neighbourhood in Redfern!
The Redfern Community Centre is the site of one of Blak’s first major suburb murals. It’s also where Blak runs workshops, where he shares his artistic skills and knowledge with others. Part of his workshops also include a walk through the streets of Redfern, to see more of his murals and public works, including his latest work, The Coal Face.
When in Redfern, Blak often enjoys lunch at Breadfern Bakery. A French-style bakery, Breadfern bake a daily range of sweet and savoury patisserie goods, on-site, as well as organic sourdough. Diners can also enjoy a choice of freshly-made baguettes, and great coffee with beans from Toby’s Estate.
