When he’s not wowing them on stage in Wicked the Musical or skewering the contestants on Dancing With The Stars, Todd McKenney hangs out in the Hawkesbury, and was happy to take us around to a few of his favourite spots!
First is the Hawkesbury River Oyster Shed at Mooney Mooney, an oyster bar/restaurant with a stunning view up the waterway. Try the oysters naturale, or get a cold selection with Korean, Japanese and French toppings, or a hot selection with Italian, mornay and kilpatrick toppings.
Sample some of the house smoked trout, salmon and even oysters and tuck into a lobster and scallops while you’re there. You can even join a shucking class and learn how to open oysters like a pro.
A quick boat trip down river will take you to Dangar Island and another one of Todd’s happy places, the Dangar Island Depot. It’s a general store, an art gallery, a post office, but most importantly it’s a café that does a sensational breakfast and lunch trade – beautiful eggs, burgers, salads and a whole lot more.
Take a trip to the Hawkesbury. You might even bump into Todd!
