For a hands-on experience that the kids will love, head straight to Oakvale Wildlife Park. Sprawling across 25 acres, this place is home to over 100 different species of animals – with more than 250 animals in the park. There are heaps chances to get up close to a variety of animals, including koalas, lemurs, reptiles, wombats, dingos and more! A family owned and operated business for 40 years, they’ll teach the family more about native wildlife and conservation. And what makes this park unique is there are also a number of farm animals here that you can interact with, include baby goats, horses and alpacas.

Fingal Bay Holiday Park is a great place to base to family when exploring Port Stephens. Located right next to the beach, there are a range of accommodation options here, from powered sites, to small cabins and a beach house for those bigger groups. The kids will love the facilities, with a playground and pool on site, and extra activities run throughout the school holidays.

While you’re in town you’re going to need a great feed and Shoal Bay Country Club’s dining menu will keep the whole family happy. The menu here is one of the largest hotel food menus in Australia, so you’ll find heaps of options to choose from, seafood, to burgers and wood fired pizzas. These guys also run special kids activities every Sunday, and throughout the school holidays.
