When people are really in a crisis, finding a safe home is often the first step in getting their lives back on track. But many people arrive at their new house and find it completely empty. That’s where ReLove comes in.
ReLove is a social enterprise based in Alexandria that helps vulnerable people to furnish a home from top to bottom. Clients – many fleeing domestic violence or homelessness – are referred to ReLove and can come and shop for the furniture they need, where its given to them for free. It’s then delivered to their homes and even sometimes assembled.
ReLove sources the furniture from a range of donors including the hotel industry, the property industry and furniture retailers, but also rely on smaller donors such as property stylists and the general public.
In fact, the donations are such good quality that co-founders Ren Fernando and Ben Stammer have also founded a furniture store ReStory, which sells some of these items to the public to fund their work. A $500 chair can fund a family with up to $15,000 worth of furniture.
Volunteer, donate or buy something, and help ReLove help those in need.
