The Sydney Fish Market, in Sydney’s Pyrmont, is home to some of the state’s top purveyors of fresh seafood, with arguably the biggest selection of seafood, anywhere in the state. The market is also home to the Sydney Seafood School, located just upstairs. At the seafood school, you can learn how to turn your fresh seafood into seafood feasts, incorporating a range of skills, from how to correctly BBQ your seafood, to how to create delicious dishes that the whole family can enjoy.
The Sydney Seafood School employs a three-stage philosophy, starting with a teacher demonstration (by highly skilled chefs), of every stage and process, delivered in a full kitchen, in front of the class. Students then move to their own fully equipped kitchen benches (featuring ILVE appliances, Scanpan Cookware and Global Knives) to execute their own dishes, complete with on-hand chef and helper assistance, as well as recipe books. Once the classes have cooked all their dishes, the group then moves into the dining room, attached to the school, where they can enjoy the ‘fruits of their labour’ over a glass of red or white, or a crisp cold beer.
Classes include their highly popular ‘Seafood BBQ’ Cooking Experience, where participants learn to BBQ fish, shellfish and squid to perfection.
