Tasting Orange

Stop talking about how Orange is such a great place for food and wine. You’ve got to get out and taste it for yourself!

One place you must visit is the Borrodell Estate. There’s a winery and fantastic cellar door, the sensational Sister’s Rock restaurant and 135 acres of fruit trees, grape vines and even truffles, all planted by owners Borry and Gaye.

The vines are right on the side of Mt Canobolas, and the cool climate and rich volcanic soil is producing some extraordinary light and crisp wines, that are full of flavor.

The restaurant uses the best produce from the district in dishes like Lithgow goat’s cheese in onion sauce and Murray cod with fennel and romanesco.

If you want to buy some local produce for yourself, head to The Agrestic Grocer. There are literally hundreds of local products, from jams and condiments and fresh local vegetables to spirits, beer and wine from over 60 wineries in the district.

Top off your classic Orange experience with a stay at the Byng Street Boutique Hotel. It’s a beautiful blend of old and new, and you can choose to stay in one of the completely refurbished rooms in the old house, or one of the stylish guest suites in the new wing.

Eat, drink and enjoy the taste of Orange.

Life has changed and eating out isn’t always easy. BUT…that doesn’t mean we have to miss out because some of our favourite restaurants and cafes are coming to us, making ‘Eating IN’ the new way to Eat OUT’!
