The Ritz

The Ritz is an icon of Sydney cinema that has stood tall in the middle of the famous Randwick Spot since 1937. The cinema now hosts patrons form all over town, flocking to see new blockbusters, arthouse films or one of the many retro programs showing most nights of the week.

Cinema 1 is the classic, a 675-seater art deco beauty with original features intact. But the cinema now has nine screens, most seating between 50 and 200 cinema-goers. And they’ve just added a new boutique space – an intimate 26-seater cinemateque that includes super comfy daybeds at the front.

The Ritz is one of just a handful of cinemas that still screen movies on film, and it attracts film buffs from around the city to watch both 35mm and 70mm films.

And as well as enjoying the customary popcorn and choctops, customers can order a drink from the Balcony bar, which looks over the bustling shopfronts. You don’t even have to buy a movie ticket to go.

Have a ritzy night out at the flicks at the Randwick Ritz!
