My Sydney Weekender with the Prime Minister

Where does the most powerful man in Australia go for a casual day out? Back to his roots of course.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is Inner West through and through, so it’s no surprise that the area contains some of his favourite places to hang out and relax.

First is the 100-year-old Marrickville District Lawn Tennis Club where the PM loves to have a hit and enjoy time with other members. He still plays competition in the district comps when he gets the chance.

For a bite to eat, the PM continued the tour of traditional Marrickville with lunch at the Corinthian Rotisserie Restaurant. Massive plates of mixed entrees, roast lamb and Greek salad are a must, and the taverna-like ambience and late opening hours are a real drawcard.

Finally, we settled in for a beer at one of the Inner West’s 16 craft breweries, Willie the Boatman, where owner Pat McInerney has even brewed a beer in the PM’s honour. The Albo Pale Ale is a real hit with voters of all persuasion.

If you want to follow in the PM’s footsteps, now you know what to do. And make sure you finish off with a nice refreshing Albo ale.
