How do you renew and revitalise a town centre? Simple… you build an amazing space filled with fantastic food! The centre of Gosford will be well and truly resuscitated by the arrival of The Bon Pavilion. This incredible open space houses a range of eateries — Bon Bon for fast casual dining, Bonfire for more of a sit-down affair, and the groovy bar area, Bon Public — all with chef Sean Connolly’s distinctive stamp.
We started with breakfast at Bon Bon, ordering a muesli plate with chia, yoghurt and goji berries, and that Aussie breakfast staple — the bacon and egg roll. This one comes with a layer of red Leicester cheese, which is a divine addition.
You can lunch here on sandwiches or paninis, or try the tapas menu. We had the patatas bravas and the softest chorizo croquettes you could imagine. Bon Bon serves tapas at lunch and dinner, and we also tried the slow-cooked beef cheeks with smoked mash off the Bon Bon menu… yum.
Over at Bonfire, we tasted the clean and punchy ocean trout with a cucumber and avocado salad and miso sesame vinaigrette, Sean’s signature orgy of mushrooms with ricotta gnocchi and a sumptuous rib-eye served with duck fat potatoes.
The only way to end the meal was with an ice cream – a dropped softee to be exact. It was a fun and oh-so-tasty way to end a truly memorable meal at a truly memorable place!
