Forty years ago, Andrew Lloyd- Webber created the musical CATS, and now it’s back- bigger, better and feistier than ever!
Based on the author T.S Elliot’s classic novel “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats”, Cats the musical follows the story of a tribe of cats called the ‘Jellicle’s’ as they seek to choose a new cat, to ascend to cat heaven, known as the Heaviside Layer.
Now showing at Theatre Royal Sydney, CATS is one of the iconic, must-see shows of the musical theatre world and has certainly stood the test of time, celebrating the 40th Australian anniversary production.
The latest production features incredible homegrown talent, triple threat actors, singers and dancers, including Mark Vincent playing Old Deuteronomy and Todd McKenny playing dual roles of Bustopher Jones and Asparagus. And playing the coveted role of Grizabella, the ‘glamour-puss’ cat, is star-on-the-rise Gabriyel Thomas.
