Paulini is one of Australia’s favourite singers, and now she’s dancing her heart on Dancing With the Stars. Which means one thing – she’s one very hungry woman!
Paulini takes Mel on a tour of a few of her favourite foodie haunts, beginning at Sydney’s Spice Alley, in Chippendale. Resembling a hawker style market, as you would see across many parts of Asia, Spice Alley offers diners six different eateries to choose from, with Malaysian, South-East Asian, Singaporean, Chinese, Cantonese and Japanese. Visitors can dine under beautiful paper lanterns in a lovely communal setting.
Paulini’s palette is as diverse as her talents. Next stop on her foodie tour, with Mel, is Mejico in the heart of Sydney’s CBD. A modern Mexican restaurant, the meal begins with guacamole, smashed tableside in a theatrical display by the waiter! There are street snacks, such as jalapeño poppers, and a delightfully delicate Kingfish ceviche with hibiscus crumb, desert lime crema, and aji amarillo. Don’t leave without trying the range of authentic tacos with a choice of pork, grilled chipotle chicken, achiote salmon and – for the vegetarians – a crispy mushroom variety. It’s also the home of margaritas, with over six varieties to choose from! Mejico is the perfect restaurant for both a date night, or a group celebration, in this vibrant and colourful dining room.
