My Sydney Weekender with Scott Tweedie

Australian Idol host, Scott Tweedie, takes Matt on a gig day out in Sydney’s Inner West in the lead up to the Grand Finale this weekend.

The inner west is one of Sydney’s most vibrant suburbs, and if you like hops, hoops, and good times, The Vic On The Park is the place to hang. Like a ‘home-away-from-home’, The Vic On The Park is a place to enjoy with friends and family over great local and international beers, quality pub fare, and should you fancy it, basketball on the outdoor half court! The pub is also renowned for its live music scene, with bands and DJ’s playing in the front bar on weekends.

Just up the road, on King St, Newtown is another community-minded boozer, Buddy’s Bar. The first self- serve ‘boozery’ in Sydney, drinkers purchase a card to their desired limit, and can pour their own beers, wines and pre-made cocktails, to their required measure and cost. There’s a DJ booth in the front, and retractable glass windows, perfect for casual drinking, and people watching!

Newtown is Sydney’s home of vintage shopping, with plenty of great shops selling vintage and used clothes and accessories. And if you’re a fan of classic and collectable trainers, The Stitch Up is where you’ll find vintage threads, from the nineties and noughties, and some of the most sought-after trainers in the country… It’s also a welcoming, communal space to hang, and meet like-minded people.
