If you want to put a whole lot of “yee haar” into your weekend, Lizzy Lovette has found the place! She’s saddling up at K Ranch – Sydney’s newest equestrian centre at Mount Hunter, in Wollondilly Shire.
You’ve heard the phrase “Bigger than Texas” plenty of times and K Ranch is a little smaller – but it’s a genuine Texan experience.
K Ranch is home to riding clinics and sporting events, including rodeos, as well as “Naughty 9’s” – Australia‘s richest roping event. That’s where Team Ropers, Steer Wrestlers, Breakaway Ropers and Barrel Racers compete for more than $150,000 in cash and prizes.
But we didn’t go to look!
Lizzy started her day getting “suited and booted” at The Western Ranch boutique, which is stocked with the latest in Western clothing, boots, hats, homewares, jewellery and accessories. You can even saddle up and outfit your horse here!
Then K Ranch owner Mick Kearney showed Lizzy the ropes with a lesson in…roping. It didn’t take long before Sydney Weekender’s star rider had lassoed her first calf – albeit a tin one!
Don’t leave without lunch at the Saloon Bar where the burgers really are bigger than Texas!!
