Ku-Ring-Gai Wildflower Garden

It’s one of Sydney’s biggest bush gardens and one of our best-kept secrets – until now! Ku-Ring-Gai Wildflower Garden is a natural wonderland just calling to be explored – perfect for the entire family, and best of all, it’s free!

Tucked away just off Mona Vale Road in St. Ives, Ku-Ring-Gai Wildflower Garden offers 123 hectares of pristine untouched bushland, and just 20 minutes from the Sydney CBD. With free entry all year round, this is a perfect place to enjoy bushwalking, picnics, barbecues and more.

With landscapes of tall forest, shrublands, ponds, gullies, sandstone outcrops, and waterfalls, there are plenty of walking trails to choose from, ranging from the child-friendly Senses Track to the challenging, four-hour Mueller Track hike.

Wildlife enthusiasts can also follow the Banks Track boardwalk through the wetlands to spot frogs, lizards and turtles swimming in the ponds or basking in the sun. Browse a variety of local produce, crafts and books at the visitor centre, or learn more about the walking trails, animals and plant species found throughout the garden. You can also buy a number of wildflowers and plants in the native nursery, or even your own pet stick insect to bring home with you.

The Senses Track runs for 500 metres, and is suitable for strollers, wheelchairs, elderly and visually impaired. The track is located near the entrance to the garden and features self-guided signage.

The Wildflower Garden is free all year round, and open daily from 8am to 5pm. Please note it is closed on New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The Visitor Centre and Wildflower Nursery has slightly different hours. Open from 9am to 4pm from Monday to Friday, and from 10am to 4pm on weekends and public holidays.

Dog Walking: Dogs and cats are not allowed in the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden. This is to protect the native wildlife, which is monitored by installed cameras. However, guide dogs may be taken into reserves when assisting their owners, but they must be on a leash at all times.
