Have you ever heard of the term “passive boating”? They’re the buzz words at this year’s Sydney International Boat Show! Passive boating is all about small, affordable, convenient vessels that you can get from home to the water on your own – from stand-up paddle boards and kayaks to small sailboats.

They’re quiet… they don’t need fuel… they don’t need servicing… and in most cases, you can get them in and out of the water by yourself. Rose set sail on a Hobie Cat with Jonno from Balmoral Water Sports — and five minutes into the lesson, she was solo at the helm. It’s that easy!
She tried pedal and paddle power on a kayak from The Life Aquatic, as well as the latest version of a SUP, which doesn’t involve paddling! Rose also met Michelle Lee — the first Australian woman to row across the Atlantic Ocean — 5,000 kilometres in 68 days! Michelle will be at the Boat Show with her boat “Australian Maid” to talk about her incredible journey.
