Whether you’d like hire an entire island, enjoy a family friendly getaway or experience a luxe picnic on your own private beach, we’ve got you covered.
Yeppoon is the gateway to the stunning Keppel Islands. A group of 18 islands in the Southern Great Barrier Reef, just a 30 minute calm boat ride away from the mainland. Laureth and Wayne Rumble are lucky enough to call this place home, and they run Keppel Charters to share their favourite secluded spots with private groups of up to 36 guests.
They can take guests to any of the 50 secluded beaches in the Keppel Islands, where you’re bound to be the only people on the beach, or the entire island. Their experiences are tailored to whatever the guest wants and wherever they want to go. Whether it’s a proposal, a romantic picnic for an anniversary, a camping drop-off, an island-hopping sightseeing day, a milestone birthday, or a group celebration – Laureth will look after every detail. Want a luxe picnic on your own private beach, with styling, food, champagne and all the trimmings?…she’s got you covered!
Heck, if you want to hire an entire private island for you and your best-buds, she’ll organise that too!
Laureth and Wayne own Pumpkin Island. Can you imagine owning an entire island?! Well, you can for 3 nights, or a week, or as long as you like. They rent it out their slice of paradise to visitors.
That’s 6 hectares of Insta-worthy-heaven for you and up to 33 of your besties to do as much, or as little as you please! And it’s more affordable than you may think. Pumpkin Island offers affordable bungalows from just less than $340 a night… and you can have the entire island to yourself from just under three grand a night!
You have the option to book one of the 7 eco-friendly cottages and bungalows, or rent the whole island, for a 3-night minimum stay. There are no shops or restaurants but every room has a deck and a bbq with front row seats to mother nature’s show.
Like most of the Keppel Islands, Pumpkin is surrounded by fringing reef – which makes discovering the underwater wonders of the Southern Great Barrier Reef easily accessible…you can snorkel right from the beach!
When it’s time to put your flippers up you can take out a kayak or stand-up paddle board, eat fresh oysters off the rocks, or wander the nature paths and find your favourite viewpoint (which is probably the most difficult task you’ll be faced with all holiday).
It’s a place to relax, refresh and recharge. Laureth sums it up perfectly “Our lives are just so busy all the time. When you come to this island, there’s no cars, no TV’s you don’t watch the news, it’s just really getting back to nature and experiencing it in its full glory…and it’s so good for your soul.”
It’s a common theme on the Capricorn Coast….
