It doesn’t matter what sort of Australian native animal you like, you’re sure to find one at the Australian Reptile Park.
As the name suggests, there are hundreds of species of reptile, from tiny lizards, to deadly venomous snakes, to the crankiest crocodile in Australia, Elvis. And while there’s plenty on show, behind the scenes there’s some serious business going on.
The Australian Reptile Park is the sole provider of snake venom for the national antivenom program, which means tigers snakes, king browns and the very deadly coastal taipan, are milked for their vemon. There’s also a program to milk funnel webs, again for antivenom production.
But there’s a whole lot more to the Australian Reptile Park than spiders and snakes. There are seven bird aviaries, a nocturnal house, a Komodo dragon house, and a massive collection of native mammals – koalas, wallabies, platypus, Tassie Devils and much much more.
And there are plenty of different animal experiences on offer, so you can get right up close. Zookeeper programs, behind the scenes action, animal encounters and photo ops.
So whether you’re a fan of the creepy crawlies, or you stan the cute and cuddlys, you are going to love the Australian Reptile Park.
