This is how to spend a Sydney Saturday sunset – watching intimate performances from sensational artists in an iconic location, Cockatoo Island.
The Sunset Sessions, presented by the Harbour Trust, are running every Saturday evening through to April 1 showcasing different performers from different genres every week.
And the setting is superb. Sitting right in the middle of the harbour, Cockatoo Island has a long and varied history. Traditionally known as Wareamah, it was a meeting place for different Aboriginal groups across the Sydney Harbour area. After European settlement, it was used as a penal colony, a reformatory school and a working shipyard.
In recent times, the island has got a well-deserved reputation as a home to the arts and performance, hosting the Sydney Biennale and companies such as Opera Australia. The Sunset Sessions are a special summer addition to a long list of successes.
Grab a hamper, grab a drink, and chill on the lawns at a Sunset Session!
