Fancy sitting in Michael Clarke or Ricky Ponting’s old spot in the Australian Cricket Team’s home dressing room? What about visiting the television commentary box or the press rooms, taking in the view from the top of the mighty SCG grandstands or wandering the amazing SCG Museum? Touring the Sydney Cricket and Sporting Ground Trust Precinct is one of Sydney’s coolest historical attractions and today Mike not only gives us a taste of this, but he also relives some of his fondest memories at the SCG as we learn some amazing sporting facts, such as…
- The Sydney Cricket Ground is one of the world’s leading sports venues steeped in history. With a rich history of cricket, rugby, league, AFL, and football – it’s Sydney’s home of sport.
- First recorded match on the grounds in 1854 between the Garrison Club and Royal Victoria Club. The Garrison Club won.
Mike then takes us for a mandatory ‘post-match’ meal at the recently revamped, Paddo Inn. The Paddo Inn is a lively neighbourhood pub which has been around for a long time, since 1814 in fact. This place is all about celebrating life’s greatest pleasures – good food and drink, shared with friends and we’ve made plenty of those in Paddington over the years. It’s a wonderful community full of all the things that matter most – people, art, design, fashion and food.
There’s the ‘Front Bar’ for perfect ‘post-match’ food and a few drinks OR the dining room out the back for a more sophisticated meal or one of their signature, long lunches. The food at Paddo Inn is all about quality meat and seafood on the grill. Simple cooking featuring great Australian beef and local, seasonal produce that excites us. Matt Moran oversees the menu while the kitchen is led by head chef Mark Holland.
