Orange has become one of New South Wales’ most iconic regional towns, developing a strong reputation as a gourmet food and wine hub – two things us Aussie’s love! Just a four-hour drive west of Sydney, it’s a great place to base yourself if you want to explore the stunning Central West region, with heaps of things to see and do.
Huntley Berry Farm is a great place to visit if you’re in town with the family. These guys offer pick-your-own berries, with over eleven berry varieties becoming available throughout the season, which runs from November to March. They also offer tractor rides and there’s an on-site animal nursery with alpacas, pigs, chickens to meet. Grab a bite in the on-site café and make sure you pick up some jam in the shop before you leave.
These guys also supply their delicious produce to a few different businesses around Orange, including… The Greenhouse of Orange! This beautiful restaurant is a unique addition to the Orange dining scene, set on 1 acre above the Orange Ex Services Club, and with it’s own expansive kitchen garden that supports their field to fork philosophy. The menu is packed with fresh flavours and highlights some of the best food and wine the Central West community has to offer. It’s a fantastic venue to check out when you’re in town.
If you’re making a weekend of it, pull up stumps at Blue Door Apartments located in the centre of town. Just a two-minute walk from some of Orange’s must see sights, like the gallery, theatre and museum, it’s also close by to cafes and shopping. There are two apartments on site, each one self-contained, and they’ve been lovingly restored to merge their heritage features, with modern amenities. It’s a beautiful place to spend the night
