CANberra sure CAN do fabulous food! And with more restaurants per capita than anywhere else on mainland Australia — you’ve got plenty to choose from.
At XO Restaurant, in the suburb of Narrabundah, Chef Anand Ramakrishna (you can call him AK!) and Kent Nhan have teamed up to create their own versions of some classic Malaysian and Vietnamese dishes. Nasi goreng cooked with squid ink, ume-misu is their take on Italy’s tiramisu and even Bolognaise has been re-invented “Asian-style”! They are unbelievably good.
In the city… Darren’s seated himself at Temporada — the Spanish word for “seasons”. With food this good, you’ll want to be eating here all year round. Spanner crab salad shouts out summer, braised octopus screams autumn, wood-grilled beef with mustard butter has winter covered and you can spring into hiramasa kingfish.
It’s supposed to be a share-plate kind of restaurant – but we’re warning you – it’s VERY hard to do that.
