Truffle Hunt

The cooler months are here so it’s the perfect time to rug up in your favourite winter-woollies, and just two hours south-west of Sydney, it’s also the perfect time for something else… Truffle hunting!

Ganymede Truffles in the NSW Southern Tablelands welcomes guests to spend the day on their fam and go in search of the delicious and precious “black gold”!

Owned by the Burdis family, who planted their first truffiere in 2009, Ganymede invites guests to roam amongst the soil and roots of the truffle farm’s oak and hazelnut trees. Truffle hunts are led by the amazingly talented kelpie, Zazu, in search of the coveted black Perigord truffle. Zazu is a cute pooch with an interesting back story – he was rescued from a Northern Territory pound, had a brief stint as a drug-detection dog in Queensland, and finally came to his true calling as a truffle dog in the NSW Southern Tablelands.

A day out at Ganymede is a true winter treat, following the truffle hunt, everyone is invited to enjoy the spoils of the hunt for lunch at a beautiful outdoor dining area known as The Ruins. The delicious four-course feast showcases the versatility of the black truffle and features an assortment of Truffle-infused Cheeses, a Potato and Leek Soup with truffle-chantili cream, a Pumpkin Lasagna with fresh grated truffle, and a Truffle Panacotta that is the sweetest ending to the sweetest day!

Ganymede offers their Truffle Hunt and Lunch on Saturdays in June, July and August.
