Beautiful Boydells

Everyone knows the Hunter Valley towns of Broke and Pokolbin, but what about higher up the valley at the foot of the Barringtons? That’s where you’ll find the beautiful Boydell’s vineyards, serving up a different taste of the Hunter through their stunning Verdehlo, Chardonnay and Shiraz.

The vineyard site itself is believed to be one of the oldest in the valley, planted by Charles Boydell in 1833.

The property is open to the public only a couple of times a year, but the wines are always on show at the cellar door in nearby Morpeth. The historic slab hut is the perfect backdrop to the wines from that historic site.

Try the sparkling verdehlo, their award-winning Reserve Chardonnay and of course the brilliantly balanced shiraz which has notes of plum and blackcurrant and a delightfully velvety mouthfeel.

Boydell’s in Morpeth also houses a sensational restaurant headed by chef Paula Renggar. Try the brandy-cured gravellax with smoked trout mousse, the line-caught mulloway fresh from Port Stephens and the delectable licorice parfait with dark chocolate mousse.

A different side of the Hunter means a different taste of the Hunter!
