Sydney’s east has some beautiful beaches, but western Sydney is coming in hot- with one very cool billabong!
Campbelltown Billabong Parklands is a beautiful, family-friendly oasis in Sydney’s west, with a state-of the-art recreation precinct attached. Comprising several swimming pools, and fun splash play areas for the little ones, the billabong has a pool to suit all ages and swimming abilities.
There’s also First Nations artworks, in the form of a stunning bridge between the two main pools with the design developed with the Yirran Miigaydhu Weavers Group, and native landscaping that reflects local indigenous dreamtime stories. The Entry Sign was designed by First Nations artist, Danielle Mate. This sign reads: Njirgangga dharidhamayi Dharawal nguradha You are standing on Dharawal Country.
One of the best things about Campbelltown Billabong Parklands is that entry is FREE – all you need to do is go online to register for your ticket and the ticket is free, this allows for the space to not feel over crowded. There are free BBQ facilities, so you can BYO your own lunch and picnic. The best way to stay out of the sun is to hire a shaded cabana with tables and seating areas for a small fee.
