Country Bound

The Megalong Valley is one of the Blue Mountains best-kept secrets. It’s also home to an exciting new farm-to-table restaurant, where most of the produce is grown, and reared, on site!

LOT 101 is six hundred hectares of stunning farmland in the Megalong Valley, where they grow a variety of fruit and vegetables, and rear chickens and livestock, with the produce going straight to Megalong Restaurant. Restaurant diners can enjoy the fruits of the farm in a multi-course dining experience, unique to the Megalong Valley, as well as local meats, and local wine pairings.

While most of the LOT 101 produce goes straight to Megalong Restaurant, a lot of it is also sold at the Megalong Valley Tea Rooms, at their farmgate stall. While the produce is as fresh as it gets, what really draws the crowds to the tea rooms are the baked goods. The scones, with house-made jam and chantilly creme, are hearty and moreish, while the apple pie is made, in-house, using the same recipe since 1956! There’s also savoury dishes, including pasties and a soup-of-the day using vegetables from LOT 101.

If you’re keen to stay in the Megalong Valley, Werriberri is a delightful property, featuring six self-contained cottages on one hundred and eighty acres of bushland on Gundungurra country. There’s both Twin and Family Cottages, with lovely log fires, and outside decks, to ensure the perfect country stay. And at only two hours drive from Sydney, its the perfect weekend getaway.
