Like all major cities, Sydney can sometimes feel like an urban jungle. Which is why sometimes, you just need to escape to the zoo! Tucked away in a warehouse, in downtown Alexandria is Ice Zoo, a world-class skating rink where you can really chill out.
There are many things to do, and fun to be had, at the Ice Zoo, from open skating and ‘learn to skate’ sessions, to joining the skating academy and the ice hockey club. There are also plenty of themed events on at the rink, through-out the year, from Valentines Day to St Patrick’s Day skating sessions, as well as weekend ice discos. For hungry and thirsty skaters, there’s also a licenced on-site cafe, serving snacks and hot drinks, as well as bubbles, wine and beers and mixed drinks.
Going on a skiing holiday can be a costly affair, but what if you could ‘try before you buy’? That’s exactly what you can do at Off Piste Ski & Snowboard. Located in Moore Park’s Entertainment Quarter, Off Piste features state-of the art simulators, manufactured using German technology, so users can go skiing and snowboarding in a safe, controlled environment. There are two simulators, The Summit, for children and beginners and The Avalanche for intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders.
First- timers, and experienced skiers and snowboarders can all benefit from a visit here, whether you’re working on your technique, or just maintaining your ‘ski fitness’ in the off-season. And every participant is partnered with an experienced ski instructor to talk you through your technique.
