Kyiv Social is part of Plate it Forward, the purpose-driven restaurant group behind Colombo Social and Kabul Social. Together, the restaurants provide training, paid employment and meal donations for refugees, asylum seekers and other members of marginalised communities.
At Kyiv Social, many members of the team are recently arrived Ukrainian refugees, proudly sharing the flavours and food traditions of their homeland with Sydney diners.
And the food is every bit as memorable as the story behind it. Expect comforting Ukrainian classics with a modern twist, from borscht with sour cream and dill and a contemporary take on Chicken Kyiv, to pork dumplings, smoky BBQ pork and creamy mash finished with paprika oil. Leave room for the traditional multi-layered honey cake, where rich cream meets beautifully sweet honey.
