Leichhardt has long had a reputation for being a bit of a foodie hub, and there are a couple of new kids on the block, who are bringing some exciting flavours to Norton Street.
Creek and Cella is an intimate wine bar located in a federation building in the heart of Leichhardt. The menu here is influenced by modern European flavours with award-winning cheese and sliced-to-order charcuterie, a staple of the menu. If you’re after something more substantial there are share plates on offer, and the menu uses some of Sydney’s best produce, and changes seasonally, so there’s always something new to try. The wine list focuses on Australian producers and includes a wide variety of biodynamic and organic wines. The pouring list changes weekly and they also have 8 taps of Aussie craft beer on rotation.
A newcomer to Norton Street is Golden Gully, a small bar that is also championing Aussie ingredients, wines and spirits. The chef here is dishing up share plates with a vegetarian focus, with flavours so good you won’t even notice it’s vego. Try the almond-based ricotta gnocchi with crispy oyster mushrooms, or the smoked potato croquettes, served with a creamy vegan aioli – delicious! The two storey location, also has a fantastic range of cocktails, and is friendly and welcoming location to relax with a drink next time you’re in the area.
