Mystery, romance and adventure are on full display in the Broadway hit musical Anastasia, now playing at the Lyric.
The story is based on the legend of the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia, the young daughter of the Tsar rumoured to have survived execution of the Russian Royal family.
In the musical, Georgina Hopson plays Anya, a young woman with no memory of her past but who resembles Anastasia. Anya is found by con men Dmitry (played by Rob Tripolino), and Vlad (played by Rodney Dobson) who plan to claim a reward by delivering her to the Dowager Empress (played by Nancye Hayes) in Paris.
There Vlad meets an old flame Countess Lily Malevsky-Malevitch played by Rhonda Burchmore, who happens to be Lady in Waiting to the Dowager Empress.
The staging is superb, the costumes are incredible and the performances of all cast members are extraordinary. From St Petersberg and Paris to Pyrmont’s Lyric Theatre at The Star, Anastasia the Musical is guaranteed to take you away.
