Cheap & Cheerful: Four Frogs Creperie & Mamis Casa Latina

For many of us right now, dining out is simply ‘out of the question’. But thanks to four French friends, a delicious, budget-friendly meal is well within reach! Four Frogs Creperie, located in Randwick in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, is the brainchild of four French natives, living in Sydney, who sought to bring this delicious French delicacy to Sydney. Diners can choose from a range of sweet crepes, and savoury galettes. Made using buckwheat and wheat flour milled weekly on-site, the crepes are authentic, moreish, and very affordable too. You can’t go past the La Tartiflette featuring bacon, swiss and raclette cheese, and potato and onion cooked in cider. On the sweet side, the fresh strawberry, crushed pistachios, mixed berry coulis and raspberry ice cream is sweet heaven!

Bondi is home to some fantastic restaurant options, and offering a menu that’s as affordable as it is tasty is Mamis Casa Latina. You can feel, and taste, the love at this family owned and run restaurant, as soon as you step through the cobalt blue doors! Customers queue up daily for authentic, fresh and tasty Mexican street food, where no dish is over $20! Highlight dishes include the beef birria taco, accompanied by a bowl of spice-laden consomme, and burritos laden with black beans and vegetarian ingredients. As a nod to the former restaurant on site, Lauries, there’s also a Tex-Mex style nachos that offers more than enough for two. Mamis is also BYO with The Royal Bondi hotel, just across the road, offering diners a discount on wine.
