She’s been showing children here and all over the world how to have fun since joining The Wiggles in 2013, and this weekend Emma Watkins is showing our very own Sally Stanton around her new, Southern Highlands hometown of Robertson.
Set amongst rolling farmlands just two hours from Sydney, this picturesque village is known for excellent produce, and in particular it’s abundance of red-soil potatoes, so it’s little wonder Emma’s first port of call is a quick visit to The Big Potato, followed by brunch at her favourite café, Moonacres Kitchen.
Getting back to nature is a big part of Emma’s next chapter, so bushwalking is a must. The stunning Budderoo National Park is just twenty minutes’ drive from Robertson, and with short walks, a beautiful bushland swimming hole, spectacular birdwatching and waterfalls, it makes for the perfect day-trip. It’s here Emma talks to Sally about her brand new Children’s show, Emma Memma, which is all about empowering the next generation through movement, creativity, inclusiveness and friendship.
Lastly, Emma takes Sally to the Native Wildlife Rescue to meet her pet goats, Strawberry and Cream. The goats live at the refuge farm and Emma visits them twice a day. As well as running the native wildlife rehabilitation programme, owner Kerstin Schweth also offers exquisite farm accommodation. The Escarpment – Above & Beyond and The Escarpment Loft are deluxe two-bedroom residences and are an ideal escape for couples and families.
