My Sydney Weekender: Ashleigh Gardner

Ashleigh Gardner is one of the rising stars of the Australian women’s cricket team. The holder of a coveted ‘baggy green’ and part of the Ashes and World Cup winning teams, Ash Gardner plays for the NSW Breakers in the Women’s National Cricket League, and the Sydney Sixers in the Australian Women’s Big Bash League.

Matt Baseley joined Ash to discover what she loves to do on a weekend. When she’s not playing cricket, Ash can often be found hitting a ball of a different kind. As a Sutherland Shire local, she often plays golf at The Ridge Golf Course and Driving Range. Open seven days a week, The Ridge is considered one of the best public–and championship– golf courses in the state, with very affordable rates.

After a day on the green, Matt joins Ash for a ‘net session’ just down the road from the golf course, at The Ridge Playing Fields. Needless to say, Matt is no match for Ash when it comes to cricket but, when it comes to ordering food, Matt is a bona fide expert!

To finish off a fantastic day with an absolute legend, Matt takes Ash to one of his favourite restaurants — Rocksalt Tapas Bar and Café — in Menai. Rocksalt offers a range of delicious tapas from across the globe, as well as some fantastic cocktails, including the famous Golden Gaytime cocktail! Rocksalt is a great spot to enjoy a long lunch or dinner!
