Wollongong, or ‘the Gong’ as it’s affectionately known, is the perfect weekend destination. Bursting with natural beauty, the dramatic escarpment overlooks an equally dramatic coastline, interspersed with picturesque beaches and rockpools.
One of the best ways to explore this region is with Cycle Tours NSW. There’s nothing quite like cruising along the Sea Cliff Bridge, the highlight of the Grand Pacific Drive, on the back of an e-bike, stopping at stunning coastal spots and lookouts along the way. While the e-bike does all the work, all you need to do is kick back and enjoy the scenery!
For a hard-earned, post-ride thirst quencher, make sure you swing into Resin Brewing at Bulli. The brewery is the brainchild of good mates, Brendan and Steve, who met one day in the surf. Both loved their craft beer, and dreamed of opening their own craft brewery. Resin Brewing is the realisation of this shared dream. As well as a selection of craft beers, Resin also offers a range of delicious snacks and more substantial dishes including a mean beef burger!
For a unique seaside destination, you can’t go past Headlands Austinmer Beach. With pole position, overlooking the ocean, the rooms here ooze coastal charm and are incredibly spacious. There’s also a pool, a fantastic in-house restaurant, Headlands Brasserie, as well as a beer garden and several bars.
