Taste the Flavours of Auburn

Flavours of Auburn is a community program that brings people together through their shared love of food. Sydney is an incredibly multicultural city, and the aim of this program is to create understanding and acceptance of different cultures, through bonding over something we all love.

The program runs all year round and feature 2 main activities, cooking classes and a walking food tour.  The cooking classes are run by local cooks, who share ingredients, recipes and stories from their culture, with a small group of participants. It’s an opportunity to get hands-on and learn to cook dishes from several global cuisines including Afghani, Zambian, Ethiopian, Iranian, Pakistani and more! At the end of the class the group shares the meal they’ve created together, in the dining room of the Auburn Centre for Community.

Walking food tours take a small group of people through the streets of Auburn to visit local businesses and sample food from around the globe. The tour guide knows all the best spots to eat and you’ll get a chance to meet the business owners and hear their stories. Auburn has a vibrant community and these tours are a great way to explore the area.

All proceeds from the Flavours of Auburn program go towards expanding the project and further supporting the local community. This project is a partnership between Cumberland Council, the Auburn Small Community Organisation Network, House of Welcome and local Auburn businesses.
