PIPPIN at the Sydney Lyric Theatre

It wowed audiences globally and took Broadway by storm winning four Tony awards including Best Musical Revival – but don’t worry – you don’t need to smuggle yourself to New York or London to see it, because PIPPIN has just landed at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre and it’s unlike anything seen on an Australian Stage before!

Full of extraordinary acrobatics, wondrous magical feats and soaring songs from Stephen Schwartz (the composer of WICKED and GODSPELL), PIPPIN tells the story of a young man at a crossroads in his life. Does he follow in the footsteps of his father, one of the most powerful men in the land? Or does he strike out on his own, to find his own ‘corner of the sky?’

A play within a play, the story is told by a travelling troupe of actors and acrobats, with a standout cast including Ainsley Melham as Pippin, Simon Burke as Pippin’s father and the always fabulous Kerri-Anne Kennerley as his saucy grandmother.

After months of empty stages across the country due to Covid-19 restrictions, PIPPIN is the perfect production to kick Australian live theatre back into gear – and, combine this with pre or post theatre dining and accommodation at The Star, and you have yourself the ultimate Sydney Star-cation!
