If you love the idea of living off the land but can’t do without your luxuries then Greyleigh should be on your bucket list!
This weekend Lizzy visits this remarkable property just ninety minutes from Sydney and five minutes drive from the quaint coastal town of Kiama.
Once a dairy farm renowned for its Illawarra Shorthorn cattle, Greyleigh has been transformed into a spectacular wedding and events centre with stunning accommodation in the Homestead and Guesthouse which together sleep eighteen people.
When it comes to meals, it’s a very short journey from farm to plate. Guests can collect freshly laid eggs from the chicken pen for breakfast or pick fresh produce from the market garden for meals and drinks, including a wide variety of herbs and the likes of lettuce, spinach, zucchini, tomatoes and chilies. Stroll around The Orchard and find lush macadamia, almond, citrus and fruit trees that have been on the property for over a hundred years.
As Greyleigh is a working farm, chickens aren’t the only residents you’ll run into. Other locals include sheep, alpacas, cows and two of the cutest miniature ponies you’re ever likely to meet.
With its rolling hills, fresh country air and exquisite accommodation, Greyleigh is truly a captivating blend of rural luxury and natural harmony, and in case you aren’t quite relaxed enough, the staff have a range of experiences they can organise for guests such as private cooking classes, helicopter rides or a spot of onsite pampering.
