Where to eat in Long Jetty

Long Jetty- on the NSW Central Coast – has sure come a looooong way! With its smattering of vintage clothes and record shops, and cool cafes, there is a cultural renaissance happening around these parts, and the locals are loving it. It’s even been described as ‘Newtown’ on the Central Coast.

Leading the charge on the local café scene is The Glass Onion Society. Partners Kelly and Adrian recently took over the café but have very much kept the vision of it’s original owners alive, with a focus on good, healthy food, community and creative vibes, and of course- great tunes!

The menu here is largely vegetarian, with several vegan offerings as well. Saucy, cheeky names abound, like ‘Big Balls Benny’- aka eggs benedict with house-made hollandaise sauce – and the ‘V-gasm’ burger, which features a black bean vegan patty. There’s also great coffee, fresh juices and of course turmeric lattes!

Just a few doors down from The Glass Onion Society is Modern Organic. Part café, part-yoga studio, Modern Organic is where you can start the day with a yoga class, and then move out-back to relax and dine in the Zen Garden, under the watchful gaze of a giant stone Buddha. Again, the menu here is largely vegetarian with some stand-out dishes, including the colourful ‘Blue Moon’ smoothie bowl, which stars blue spirulina from South Australia. And then there’s the ‘Yin and Yang’ breakfast- half blueberry pancakes and half corn fritters- this has got to be the ultimate way to start your day!
